REVIEW:
Where India meets Italy.

The menu at Omar's Indian Fine Cuisine in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn has a little of everything—including pizza! Yes, imagine some of your favorite Indian flavors such as tikka masala and chicken vindaloo on a familiar pie-shaped crust. At Omar's, this Italian-Indian fusion has made your imagination a reality!   While the techniques and ingredients may differ from Vera Pizza Napoletana ("True Neapolitan Pizza"), the results check a lot of the boxes. Sure, the crust may be a bit more firm and biscuity, but that sturdiness provides the required foundation for the massive amount of ingredients loaded onto each pie. Take the signature MeatWala, for instance, and its nine ingredients including tomato sauce, garlic chicken, tikka chicken, beef pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, red onion, bell pepper, and cilantro.   The pizzas are very filling and, for the record, the vindaloo-topped Mirchi was one of the spicier pizzas I have ever consumed. All the pies are baked in a familiar gas-powered deck oven and can be ordered for dine-in, carry-out, and even delivery. Sure, they have a full menu of non-pizza items, but it's the "Indian Pizza" sign that got me in the door. I very much admire Omar's Indian Fine Cuisine for its creativity and their efforts in combining two of my favorite foods.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Sean Taylor, Robin Rothman, Rodney Umble

1. Robin Rothman and I went to Dave & Busters immediately after pizza to celebrate John Ross's birthday. He is not only a great human but an incredible webmaster who spent a large portion of the day leading up to his party de-bugging the Magnet Theater website.  Btw, our favorite game at Dave & Buster's was Stranger Things. You throw a bunch of soft cushioned balls at monsters trying to defeat them.

Rodney Umble

2. Rodney Umble bought a vinyl record because it had two thirds of his full name on it!

3. I met "Omar" from "Omar's Indian Fine Cuisine." He took over the business when his father passed away. I asked if his father was also named "Omar" and he said, "no, but his parents named the business after him (their baby)."
